Career Guidance (Basic Level)
Hey Dudes,
For any career, good knowledge on the subject and activeness is very important.
Let me present you some of the things that I learnt from my friends.
I may not present detailed information but surely this will give a rough path way to those who had no one to guide (like I was).
Electronics Opportunities
(for ECE people):
There are good opportunities in electronic stream whether it
might be in RF side (Micro wave opportunities) or VLSI side.
BTech people can directly join into the jobs on RF side but
initially, the salaries will be less. If they get one or two years experience,
they will get good salaries and become well-settled. They will have to be very good in the subject
to get a job and answer boldly in the interview. If possible, a good GATE score
will always help.
The second option is VLSI side. It is ever green and best
option. But it requires coaching for about six months which costs for more than
one lakh rupees. Once, the coaching is done and the person is very good at the
subject, his life will get a turning point career wise. He will get a good job
and very good salary.
Software Opportunities:
Software industry is good at the moment and hirings are going on. Now-a-days, companies are trying to recruit people directly from the campus and are less interested in walk-in freshers.

IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6)
Any internet capable device needs a unique machine-readable address, to share the information. But, as humans cannot remember these strings of numbers, websites are also labeled with domain names, like www.yahoo.com. When these addresses are typed into browsers, special servers translate them into IP addresses for the benefit of the computers. These addresses are assigned based on a standard of internet protocols and are called IP Address.
IPv4 standard of assigning IP addresses is still in use. As the supply of the usable addresses governed by the IPv4 (Internet Protocol Version 4) protocol has been being exhausted, new internet protocol IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6) standards are introduced in 1995 and standardized as RFC 2460 in 1998 and is being deployed world-wide since the mid-2000s.
In IPv4, the addresses are assigned in blocks of four numbers with up to three numerals each: 198.72.59.254. But in IPv6, there will be eight blocks of 16-bit hexadecimal numbers like 3FFE:085B:1F1F:0000:0000:0000:00A9:1234. The new IPv6 standard won't convert the numbers into the decimal system, rather a hexadecimal system, recognized by its combination of numbers and letters. The leading zeroes can be removed and if one or more group contains all zeroes, then it could be left without any zero. For example, the above address could be represented as 3FFE:85B:1F1F::::A9:1234.
The addresses in IPv4 standard are 32-bit supporting a maximum of 2pow32 (4,294,967,296) addresses. On the other hand, the addresses in the IPv6 standard are 128-bit and the header architecture is greatly improved in it.
It also has
• Larger Address Space
• Efficient and Extensible IP datagram
• Security
• Mobility
• Aggregation-based address hierarchy – Efficient backbone routing
• Stateless Address Auto configuration
Any windows OS, post Vista, will support IPv6 standard and there are some mechanisms to introduce this standard in systems using XP operating systems also and Mac systems starting at 10.2 and Linux, in general, can support IPv6.
In most cases, DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) access does not support the new standard but in some cases, IPv6 can be added with a firmware update. When purchasing a new router, we have to make sure it supports IPv6.
Generally, Internet use shouldn't be affected after the switch. The providers have modified their network so that data packets reach all users whether they are using IPv4 or IPv6 standards, a method called dual-stack application. Alternatively, software solutions, like those based on tunnel technology, can be used.

Last minute tax planning? Here is a quick guide!
Hey, have you ever find yourself in a situation where there are just a bunch of days ahead for the deadline of submission of tax documents? Here is a quick guide to help you sort out your finances last minute!
Target full utilisation of Section 80 C: Maximum deduction available is to the tune of Rs. 100,000. Assess your income to arrive at the amount you need to invest in this section. The investment avenues include; Public Provident Fund (PPF) up to Rs. 70,000, National Saving Certificate (NSC), Life Insurance or ULIP premium, tuition fees paid for children's education (2 children max), Equity linked savings schemes (ELSS), Post office saving deposit (POSD) and five year fixed deposits with banks among others.
For individuals in the higher income bracket, section 80 C which is the most popular one may not be sufficient to reduce overall tax liability. Here is where the other sections will play a key role in reducing tax outflow.
2. Interest on home loan: Individuals intending to buy a house should consider opting for a home loan. Interest payments up to Rs 150,000 pa are eligible for deduction under Section 24
3. House Rent Allowance (HRA): You can take advantage of this if you are renting an accommodation. There are set guidelines determining the amount deductible. Please note that the rent agreement and the rent receipts need to be submitted
4. Health Insurance Premium: Annual deduction of Rs. 15,000 is permissible for self, spouse and dependent children. Also and additional Rs. 15,000 is allowed for parents
5. Medical reimbursement: Medical treatment expenses up to Rs. 15,000 can be claimed annually as deduction from salary u/s 17(2). Actual bills need to be produced
6. Donation to Charitable institutions: Subject to the stated limits, donations to specified funds/institutions are eligible for tax benefits under Section 80G. Receipt needs to be produced.
7. Interest paid on educational loans: Deduction can be claimed on interest paid on educational loans taken for higher education of you, your spouse and children under section (u/s) 80 E. There is no limit on the amount of deduction you can claim. However, the loan should be taken for a graduate or post-graduate program in engineering, medicine or management or a post-graduate course in the pure or applied sciences
Points to remember
Section 80 C allows deduction of tuition fees spent on children's education
If you want to pay rent to your parents or relatives (kindly note this arrangement cannot be done with your spouse), you will need to treat them as landlords and request the owner of the house to declare it in his/her personal income tax return
The maturity proceeds of life insurance policies are not taxable
Conveyance allowance up to maximum of Rs. 800 can be claimed per month as deduction from salary u/s 10(14)
Long term capital gains on listed shares/securities are not taxable
Capital gains on sale of house property can be avoided by purchasing another house property within two years after or one year before date of sale
Stamp duty charges and registration charges paid while purchasing new house is eligible for tax deduction under Section 80 C
The first step in the direction of tax saving is to assess your tax liability. So start the process so that you can then decide on what all to opt for to save maximum taxes.
Do give this a thought!
Tax incentives are given to encourage savings/ investments. Savings form part of your overall financial plan which in effect means tax planning is a subset of financial planning. Your financial plan will set objectives for you based on your aspirations, your life style, your age group, size of family etc. The question you need to ask yourself is, "Did you adhere to your financial plan while investing in an instrument for tax saving purposes?" Well if your answer to that is "yes", then you're moving in the direction of attaining your financial goals. If not, it's time for you to take corrective action. The damage may have been done for the past year but the forthcoming is an opportunity for you to plan well. Remember, procrastination is the thief of time. So if you postpone it now, this year will be no different from the last one.
